QUICK WEEKEND PROJECTS

My daughter and Granddaughter came to visit this weekend.  My daughter bought a vinyl cutting machine and brought it home for me to see and play with.  We completed a few projects in between coloring eggs and baking Easter cookies with my favorite little girl.

The first project we completed where 2 glass jars that we added words to in pink vinyl.

Next project was a dollar store vase that we added the words "faith, family friends."

One more quick update.  Added the word princess to a white vase that I had from an edible arrangement.

and the very best part of the weekend was this.................................

Everyone meet my sweet Granddaughter Mya.  She is 4 years old.

Lamp shade redo

My friend Jen from over at http://creating-with-the-js.blogspot.com/ gave me a plain white lamp shade to work my magic on.  This is what it looked like before.

I added some black trim to the top and bottom with hot glue and I made a fabric flower from scraps of some leftover fabric. I added an antique button to the center of the flower and  glued the flower to the lamp shade with hot glue.

Here is the finished product.

Here is the shade sitting on top of a large candle holder just so you can see how it looks. I like how it looks next to my pottery barn knock off sheet music candle. (I'll post about the candle later)

BURLAP FOOT STOOL

Love, love, love burlap.  I found this foot stool at a yard sale for $1.00.  Yes, I said $1.00.  It had some hideous fabric on it so I ripped it off and recovered the top with batting.

Hubby reattached the top to the base.

I found my stash of burlap and covered the entire bench.  I used hubby's drill to drill the holes and added all the upholstery tacks.  I love using power tools.  I'm very happy with how it turned out.

I'm undecided if I want to stencil some letters on the top.  The stencils that I have are too big so I will have to buy new smaller ones.  For now I'm just going to leave it like it is.

Leave me a comment so I know that you stopped by.

Another table..........

This table cost me $12.99 at the thrift store.  I got so excited to start on it that I forgot the before picture.  Sorry.   It just needed a little love.  I tighened all the screws, gave it a coat of black paint, distressed it very little and waxed it.

Here's what she looks like.........

Don't mind the spray paint on the floor.  This isn't the paint I used.  I brushed the black paint on.

I like the finished product.  If you notice the "O' tags on everything it's because I sell a lot of the items that I redo at a local consignment store.  The "O" tags are my price tags.

Again, thanks for looking around leave me a comment so I know you stopped by.

Beach themed table

I purchased this plant stand from the thrift store for $2.99.   I gave it a coat of paint, distressed it and added fishing net to the inside.  I glued sisal rope around the the edge then glued sea shells to the fish net and topped it off with a round piece of glass, that I had laying around my craft room looking for a home.

Here's another view of the table.

It really looks cool in person  It's hard the get the round glass to photograph right.

I love how it turned out and It only costs $2.99.  I had the paint, rope, shells, fishing net and glass already.

Thanks for checking out my table. Leave me a comment so I know you were here!

BEFORE & AFTER

The before shot of a hurricane lamp that I purchased at a yardsale for $2.00

I changed it  up to match the decor in my house and this is what it looks like now.

Not bad, a little black paint and some burlap scraps.  Looks pretty good and was so easy.

Isn't it amazing what you can find at yardsales for almost nothing?

Third time is the charm

I rescued this table from a barn sale last summer.   (Table on the right, it was in rough shape)

This is what it looked like after the first makeover...............

Still wasn't exactly what I wanted so I went back to work on it and this is the final makeover.

I repainted the top black and added this champagne graphic to the top with decoupage and 4 black upholstery tacks.  I love it.

Please leave me a comment I would love to know what you think.

Outdoor pillows made from a shower curtain

Is anyone else ready for Spring?  I am so ready to open my windows,  put up the gazebo and furniture on my back deck and sit on my rocking chairs on my front porch.  I have Spring fever already.

I thought I would share with you my deck pillows that I redid last summer from a shower curtain.  Shower curtains are water repellent so they are perfect for outdoor pillows and much cheaper than outdoor fabric.  Did I mention that I bought the shower curtain at a yardsale for $2.00 for my son to take to college with him .  Turns out he didn't need it so I used it.

The striped fabric pillows on the top are ones I added last year.  The bottom pillow I made a few years back from 2 shower curtains that I purchased at our local Ollie's store.  The original base pillows that came with the wicker furniture were lime green and I wanted to change the color but didn't want to buy new pillows.

Come on Spring and Summer I'm ready.
