Handmade Kindle cover

I decided I wanted to try and make a cover for my Kindle.  I used fabric from my fabric-stash and velcro that I already had.  It works perfect and most important it fits right in my purse.

It didn't cost me anything but an hour of my time on Sunday Afternoon to make this.....

FAUX Leather Table

I’ve been wanting to try the faux leather treatment using brown paper bags and modge podge that I have read about in the world of blogs. I found a table at a Habitat for Humanity store for $3.00. Hubby kept telling me the table was garbage. I believe his exact words were “that table has a particle board top and you are just collecting more junk.”

I ignored him, paid the lady $3 for my table, did I mention it was covered with snow because it was out in the yard at the store, loaded the table in my CRV and headed home. I got to listen to my hubby all the way home tell me how I was never going to make that table look good.

Step 1:  Rip brown paper  lunch bags in strips and modge podge to the table.  Cover the entire table with another layer of modge podge.

Step 2:  Rub shoe polish on the entire table.  I used dark brown shoe polish.  This gives the table dimension.

Step 3:  (not shown) I added two more coats to the top of the table with modge podge letting it dry in between each coat.

Step 4:  I borrowed Hubby's drill and  drilled holes 1" apart the entire way around the table and added upholstery tacks

Step 5:  I painted the base of the table black.

Long story short, He is now eating his words. I worked my magic and this is what I came up with. Somewhere along the way he admitted that I did a good job and the table does look awesome.

Not bad for a $3.00 table, $2.00 worth of upholstery tacks, half of bag of brown lunch bags, shoe polish and my own modge podge (thank you pinterest for the recipe.)

My estimated costs for this table is about $7.00 . The look on my hubby’s face when it was done “PRICELESS.”

COFFEE SACK PILLOW

Sorry about my little mini vacation from the world of blogging but I’m back now. I have a  few projects to share with you.

COFFEE SACK PILLOW

Sister Number 3 volunteers her time to a cause near and dear to her heart, she travels to the Orphanages of Honduras twice a year with her church.

She never forgets her baby sister back in Pennsylvania that has an addiction to coffee. She always manages to find the time to pick me up the best coffee ever. Yes, it is better than Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks.

The graphics on the bag were really great, I loved that it said “Honduras” on it. I knew I wanted to make her something that she would keep for years to come. This was her birthday present from me this year. “Happy Birthday big sister.”
