coffee can remake

I found a really cute idea on pinterest to reuse coffee cans.  http://homedesignpins.com/2012/10/12/glue-rope-to-your-used-coffee-cans-cheap-chic-organizing/

Glue rope to your used coffee cans! Cheap, chic organizing.

I hate to throw anything away myself so I decided to give this idea a try.  Here is my version of the coffee can remake.  I started with a empty coffee can, I removed the label.

I hot glued thick white jute rope all the way around the can.

I found an old picture frame that was missing the glass.  I added a piece of burlap to the frame.  I added 2 old buttons tied with a skinny piece of jute.  I glued the frame to the can.

Here's the can holding scented pinecones.

I flipped the can over and added a crystal bowl with glade candle surrounded by coffee beans.  This is the centerpiece on my kitchen Island.

The can is still flipped over, I added a crystal plate, red candle and string of beads for this look.

Here is another option.  On my bedside table along with my favorite candle. Perfect storage for the remote and my kindle.

I like pieces that are versatile because I like to change my decor.  The possibilities are endless for these coffee cans.

When I grow up or retire.....

I want to travel from one yard sale to another all the way to the beach.  Doesn't that sound fun.  I keep telling my hubby that would be my dream life style.  Someday you may see me rolling down the road pulling this little beauty behind me.

A girl can dream right?  This retro camper was for sale at Luckett's for $5,500.00.  I wonder if my hubby would have been mad if I brought this baby home.

Steelers school desk

I was lucky enough to become the proud owner of an old one piece school desk recently.  I think I'm showing my age here because I remember actually sitting in one of these.  The desk was delivered to me a nice soft yellow color.  I had it loaded up and ready to go to the shop for resale just as it was but then I had a brain storm of how I could transform it.

Hubby got in on the act too, he  filled in the cracks on the wooden top of the desk with wood puddy and sanded it down for me.

A little black spray paint, regular "mustard colored" paint, modge podge and left over wallpaper border later and this is how she looks now.

Now I know there are a few people out there that aren't Steeler fans but just imagine your own team that you support either college or professional.  What little boy or girl wouldn't want to do their homework on this desk?

Personalized baby gift

I needed a baby gift for my great niece so I painted a sign that I had hot pink (sorry no picture available.)
I added vinyl letters spelling her name and painted over the entire sign again with Annie Sloan chalk paint in the color of Henrietta.

After the paint dried I pulled off the letters and here's how she turned out.

Here she is sitting on the table painted in the same color.

chalk paint retro table

I found this cute little round table for $1.00 all it needed was a little love.  I picked up a small container of Annie Sloan chalk paint when I was antiquing with my sisters a few weeks back.  I couldn't decide what color to try.  "Henrietta" won out.  Too funny, that just happens to be my mother's name so I couldn't pass it up.  I needed the perfect table to try it on and this was the one.

"Henrietta" is a very pretty color.  It's a nice combination of pink and purple together.  Here's how she turned out.

I have painted a few piece with homemade chalk paint, but using the real thing was awesome.  I will be buying more Annie Sloan paint for sure.

$1.00 retro table + chalk paint = perfection

Table redo $4.00

This was a yard sale purchase a few weeks ago.  I paid $4.00.

I started out with Miss Mustard Seed "Tricycle" paint

It wasn't what I was looking for so I painted over the entire piece with black.  I distressed it with sandpaper and here is the finished product.  You can see the tricycle color peeking through.

This piece is going to the shop for resale
