I started with a coat of off white home-made chalk paint.
I sanded it just a little and then came the fun part. I had to get hubby involved in this part. I asked him if he would cut down some yard sticks for me. He is never quite sure what I'm going to get him into, but when I explained that I had bought a bunch of yard sticks for 10 cents and I wanted to line the tray with them he cut them all down to the exact size I needed.
What a fun project. I love how it turned out.
I'm always amazed at what great projects you can come up with for so little money. This entire project costs less than $3.00. I still have yard sticks left over. I'm seeing a table top in the near future.
