Transformed Bar for $7.00

Funny story:  My husband and I were driving passed a yard sale on Sunday on our way to Lowes.  I had been to the sale the day before and they had record albums for sale.  I mentioned the sale to him and told him about the albums and he was mad that I didn't buy him any. I said "look honey this is the sale I was telling you about with the albums, do you want to stop?"  He actually said YES!!!!

This is the funny part.  He bought 8 albums, an unfinished bar and a roasting pan for me that he insisted I needed.  The roasting pan was over priced at $10.00 but he was buying so I wasn't saying no.  He spent $1.00 on each album and $7.00 for the unfinished bar.  All the albums work perfect on his 1970's turn table that he just reserected for our new screened in porch.  The bar was redone and is sitting proudly in the porch.  The roasting pan is sitting in the pantry.  I'll use it someday!!!

I over heard him tell the lady who was running the yardsale, "my wife does this every weekend good thing I don't go with her cause I would buy everything!"  I think I finally converted him to the yard sale side of the fence!!!!

Here is the bar just as we purchased it:

totally unfinished

inside view, I already took out the shelves

I stained the bottom of the bar black and added a wooden sign that I had purchased a few years ago at a yard sale for $5.00.

Hubby painted the top of the bar white and added the wooden sign while I was at work.  I think he was pretty excited about his new bar.

Here is the finished product.

Since I took this picture he has added a big screen TV and all his favorite Steeler pictures.

Stay tuned he is building a cabinet to house all his toys electronics.
