Lamp redo

I found this lamp at the consigment store that I sell items out of.  I traded this lamp for a display stand that I didn't want anymore.  That makes the cost zero.  This was the exact size that I needed for my porch, I liked the color of the shade but it needed a little something.

I glued sisal around the base of the lamp and made a few burlap rosettes for the shade.  Here she is all dressed up.

This is a no cost project because I had all the supplies and I didn't pay anything for the lamp.

taco condiment holder

We love tacos in our house but I don't like how messy the clean up is.  I always seem to have at least 8 bowls with the all the condiments in them and everyone is reaching over each other to get to the ones that they like.

I saw this idea in a magazine and I thought is was PERFECT.

A cupcake tin
Is that not one of the  smartest ideas ever.  It works perfect.  I just put the cupcake tin on my lazy susan and everyone can reach it.

Best part is the cleanup, you only have one pan.

How to paint a name

I decided to paint "Winsor's" name on his new dog table that hubby and I made together.  I love how it turned out and it was so easy.

All you need is a printer, pencil, and some craft paint.

Step One:  I used a word document on my computer and printed his name in a large font.

Step Two:  I just turned it over and scribbled all over the back with a regular pencil.

Step Three:  I taped the paper in place and traced the letters right on to the wood, just remove the tape and this is what you have.

Step Four:  I just took black craft paint and filled it all in.

Total time to print, trace and paint the name was only about 10 minutes.  Now this project is complete and most of all I love it.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all the Irish people out there in blogland.  I show my Italian side on my blog alot but today I'm dedicating my blog post to the Irish Side of my heritage.

St. Patrick's Day was always one of my father's favorite holidays.  He just loved to let the world know that he was Irish and proud of it. He would get a huge kick out of helping us pick out our green outfits to wear to school every year.  Once the grandkids starting arriving there was always "Kiss me I'm Irish" shirts to go around.  My Dad left us about 12 years ago but I know that he is looking down on us today with his Proud Irish Eyes.

This one is for you Dad.  I don't have any little ones to dress up anymore so I get to spend my energy on my favorite Puppy.

May the luck of the Irish be with you all today!

Dog dish table for $3.00

You all know how much I like shopping at yard sales.  I picked up this cute little table for $3.00, I wasn't sure what I would do with it but knew I had to have it.  It has been sitting in my sewing/craft room for a few months.

I asked hubby if he thought he could cut 2 holes in the top of the table and we could use it for Windsor's dog dishes.  Of course he looked at me like I was crazy but then decided it wasn't a bad idea.  The original table was a little too high so he cut a couple inches of the legs.

I couldn't just leave it like this, I had to add some paint.

See that plain board going across the bottom, it's screaming for something to be added to it.  I'm guessing it will be WINDSOR's name.

and best of all...............

It works like a charm.  He loves it.

Dogzilla garbage can project

This is an update to my post from a few weeks back.  Hubby made a garbage can to keep Dogzilla  Windsor out of the garbage.  We've been using it for a few weeks now but I just got around to finishing my part.  I stained the oak trim because I like the grain to show through and painted the rest because it was just particle board leftover from another project.  I'm very happy with the final product and best of all it keeps this little guy out of my garbage.

Birthday Party Take II

More pictures of my Granddaughter Mya's 5th Birthday party.  The theme from this year's party was "Fancy Nancy Soiree"  I would like to congratulate my daughter on these party preparations.  She did an amazing job.  The party started off with a photo booth.

...next up were french manicures

....next station was the flip flop station.

All the girls were provided a pair of flip flops and they chose the fabric from the container and created their own designs.  I have to admit this was a huge hit with the girls and their mothers.

Each one of the little princesses were given a party favor.  Their very own tumblers.  The back of the tumblers had each little girls name personalized.

Here is a picture of the table before all the guests arrived.  She recycled frappucino bottles.  She added Eiffel towers in pink and dipped the bottles into pink sprinkles to add the pink to the rims.  Inside was a paper black and white straw.  Once the little guests arrived the bottles were filled with pink birthday punch a.k.a. pink lemonade.

You can see the pink cake pops in the center of the table also.

close up of the frappucino bottles

I have to say again what a great job my daughter did with this party.  Every little girl left the party with not only 1 but 2 gifts to take home, their very own designed flip flops and a personalized tumbler.

You may be thinking what an expense this was.  I can honestly say that my daughter is more frugal than I am.  She has her own vinyl cutter so all the decorations and props were created by her.  I have a few friends from work that donated the frappucino bottles.  Thank Melissa and Jen for consuming all those calories and caffeine to help make Mya's birthday party such a success.

I think she has a future in party planning.

Here's the birthday girl riding her new scooter from Gammy and Papa.

Birthday cake

I always wanted to take a cake decorating class but never set aside the time to do it.  So just for fun I decided that every year since my sweet little granddaughter Mya was born I would make her birthday cake.  Remembering that I am just a novice at this.  It is amazing to me that you can google anything and figure out how to make it.  Well my daughter decided this year that Mya's birthday cake had to have ribbon icing to coordinate with the theme of  a "Fancy Nancy Soiree."

I was a little nervous because I didn't want to show up at the Soiree with the wrong kind of icing on the cake.  Oh geeze, I would have never heard the end of that mistake.  So Sunday morning with my copy of "how to make ribbon icing" in hand I started the process.

Here is the final picture, the cake topper was made by my daughter.

Here's the Birthday girl!

Don't you just love her Eiffel Tower shirt?

Happy 5th Birthday Mya Lee

Check back tomorrow to see all the details of the party.   If you have a little girl you won't want to miss all the clever ideas.

I was lucky enough to receive this shutter from Sister number 4 a few month back for free.  I decided to use it in my home office.  I didn't do anything to it except hang it up, the color was already black.  I just hung some leftover pictures on it using binder clips. I have plenty of space left for more picture.
