A girl can dream right? This retro camper was for sale at Luckett's for $5,500.00. I wonder if my hubby would have been mad if I brought this baby home.

When I grow up or retire.....
I want to travel from one yard sale to another all the way to the beach. Doesn't that sound fun. I keep telling my hubby that would be my dream life style. Someday you may see me rolling down the road pulling this little beauty behind me.
Steelers school desk
I was lucky enough to become the proud owner of an old one piece school desk recently. I think I'm showing my age here because I remember actually sitting in one of these. The desk was delivered to me a nice soft yellow color. I had it loaded up and ready to go to the shop for resale just as it was but then I had a brain storm of how I could transform it.
Hubby got in on the act too, he filled in the cracks on the wooden top of the desk with wood puddy and sanded it down for me.
A little black spray paint, regular "mustard colored" paint, modge podge and left over wallpaper border later and this is how she looks now.
Now I know there are a few people out there that aren't Steeler fans but just imagine your own team that you support either college or professional. What little boy or girl wouldn't want to do their homework on this desk?
SOLD!

Personalized baby gift
I needed a baby gift for my great niece so I painted a sign that I had hot pink (sorry no picture available.)
I added vinyl letters spelling her name and painted over the entire sign again with Annie Sloan chalk paint in the color of Henrietta.
After the paint dried I pulled off the letters and here's how she turned out.
Here she is sitting on the table painted in the same color.

chalk paint retro table
I found this cute little round table for $1.00 all it needed was a little love. I picked up a small container of Annie Sloan chalk paint when I was antiquing with my sisters a few weeks back. I couldn't decide what color to try. "Henrietta" won out. Too funny, that just happens to be my mother's name so I couldn't pass it up. I needed the perfect table to try it on and this was the one.
"Henrietta" is a very pretty color. It's a nice combination of pink and purple together. Here's how she turned out.

I have painted a few piece with homemade chalk paint, but using the real thing was awesome. I will be buying more Annie Sloan paint for sure.
$1.00 retro table + chalk paint = perfection

Table redo $4.00
This was a yard sale purchase a few weeks ago. I paid $4.00.
It wasn't what I was looking for so I painted over the entire piece with black. I distressed it with sandpaper and here is the finished product. You can see the tricycle color peeking through.
I started out with Miss Mustard Seed "Tricycle" paint

Curtains to pillow covers
Some people rearrange their furniture, I change my curtains. I get bored with the look of a room so the first thing I do is take the curtains down and hang new ones. It drives my husband crazy. Good thing I know how to sew or I would be spending alot of money on updates.
Todays redo was in our livingroom. I purchased curtain toppers at Ollies last year with the thought that I would use them in my livingroom someday. Well today was that day. Once I hung the curtains I realized the pillows on the couch didn't match. Down to my fabric stash I went. I couldn't find what I was looking for in my stash but I did find 2 sets of curtains that I hadn't used in a while. They were a very neutral color almost just like a drop cloth.
My curtains were 63" long. Did you know that you can cover one large pillow that is 25x25 with one curtain panel? I didn't have to make any cuts to the panel. Wohoo it was a perfect fit to make a slip cover. All the pillows in my house have slip covers on them. I can just remove the cover and wash it or even better CHANGE IT for an entire new look!
Here's a look at what I did. I layed out the curtain panel (right side of fabric facing up) and folded one end to the center, then take the other end and fold it over that layer to the center. Now you need to measure to make sure that your square that you just created is 26" or 25 1/2" if you like the form to fit very snug on your pillow.
The smaller pillow in the front was made from a tablecloth a few years back. Stay tuned for how I used the tie back from the set of curtains.

Now just sew a straight line down both sides of the fabric (the 2 sides that are open not the folded sides.) I like to reinforce the stitching line by just sewing over it 2 times.
Now you just need to flip your square right sides out and insert you pillow. This is what the backside looks like after I inserted the pillow.
Next time you see a set of curtains at the thrift store, yard sale or just on sale pick them up and cover your pillows with them.

Fall in Pennsylvania
Fall is beautiful in Pennsylvania. I'm glad I took these pictures on Friday, because the weather took a huge turn for the worst. It's been raining for 2 days and the temperature has really dropped. That means most of the leaves on my beautiful tree are now on the ground.
